Lady Victoria Hervey begins IVF treatment, has made a ‘back up plan’ for a baby by freezing egg:
Famous Hollywood star 41 year old Lady Victoria Hervey has begun IVF treatment as she looks to become a single mum in the future. She started IVF treatment by injecting her first hormone injections Yesterday to boost her ovaries egg supply
Speaking to The Sun Online, she said: “Yes, it’s true. It’s something I have been thinking to do for many years as a smart back up plan. “I started the egg freezing process recently and began my first injections today.
“I plan to freeze them for now. I wanted to give myself the option of becoming a mother and knew after 40 unless you have your eggs frozen your chances rapidly decrease.
“I’m really happy with my decision although the injections are not going to be easy.”
The success rate for women willing to conceive through IVF is slowly decreasing, 13.6 per cent for women aged 40-42, 5 per cent for 43 to 44 and 1.9 per cent for women over 44, according to NHS.co.uk.
Egg freezing process is similar to the IVF pathway, with women having a course of injections to stimulate the ovaries so several eggs can be collected, followed by the egg collection procedure. The collected eggs are then fast-frozen using a technique called vitrification, which very quickly transforms them to a glass-like state.
Lady Victoria is currently single, living in Hollywood but in past she was in relationships with several celebrities, most notably Danish restaurateur Mogens Tholstrup, F1 driver David Coulthard and Boyzone’s Shane Lynch.
The aristocrat has previously admitted she would like to move back to the UK once she has children, so she can send them to public school there.
